This advanced common curriculum course provides an interdisciplinary introduction to modern Latin America-its economic, political, and cultural structures and social practices. The course aims to help students develop the analytical skills necessary to better understand and appreciate the region's rich diversity and complexity, including its multiple relationships among Mexico, Central and South America, and the US. Furthermore, the course situates the region within the context of the world-system.
